Abstract
With the hundreds, in fact thousands, of state and local governments sharing the responsibility for juvenile justice in America, it is difficult to discuss the politics of juvenile justice without tending toward oversimplification. There are, however, some themes that transcend the peculiar politics of each of the states, cities, counties, and courts that share the responsibility for and power to define the nature and character of our juvenile justice system.
