Abstract

Abstract Russia’s “special military operation” against Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, sparking armed conflict between the two countries. This “operation” has had huge global effects, including on political architecture, the prices of goods and energy, food security, and immigration. The effects of the conflict have reached the Arab Gulf, and this article discusses the way in which the countries in the region have dealt with the conflict so far in political and economic terms. The article highlights Arab Gulf policies and the role of international energy markets and OPEC+. It also aims to clarify how the effects of the conflict will shape future relations between the Arab Gulf countries, on the one hand, and Russia, the West, and China, on the other.
