Abstract

Abstract Health advocates engage with policy at many levels throughout their work. This chapter takes the reader through what is necessary and a crucial awareness of how to work with policy processes. Identifying policy problems kicks off the policy process. The steps in the policy process are problem identification, agenda setting, policy formulation, policy adoption, policy implementation, and policy evaluation. This chapter identifies the key concepts, terminology, and theoretical frameworks used in policy development and implementation. This policy work might be at the more local level or at a formal legislative process.
