Abstract

This study aims at describing the eighth grade students’ ability to write poetry by using a synectic learning model at SMP Negeri 2 Palopo. This research is a type of experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design. To test the results, the SPSS program is employed in this study. The data analysis technique used in this study was the t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results of this study indicate that the t-test analysis of the posttest independent sample of the control group and the experimental group obtained was t-value of 8,720 with df 52 and p of 0,000 (p < 0.05). The results of the t-test analysis of paired samples of the pretest and posttest of the experimental group obtained was t -5,026 with df 26 and p of 0,000 (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this research is that there is a significant difference in the ability to write poetry between class taught using synectic learning models and class taught without using synectic learning models.
