I feel that mythology, with all its poetic and metaphoric imagery and its metaphysical relation to nature, is a wonderful theme for inspiration because it also has the gift of touching people's psychology very deeply. The fact that I was born, raised, and culturally formed in Brazil, spontaneously surrounded by influences of Native American and African traditions, has caused me to see these traditions as the last powerful sources in the West for mythical and metaphysical approaches to nature. The pristine quality of nature is at the basis of all rituals in both Native American and African traditions, because for those who practice these traditions it is within nature that the sacred, cosmic forces reside and interact.
