The place of the ‘atlas of Scotland’ in the atlas production of Willem Jansz. and Joan Blaeu

Abstract

Based on his own detailed bibliographic research into Dutch atlas production, published in the second volume of Koeman's Atlantes Neerlandici (2000), the author attempts an overview of the contemporary thinking and complex approach to publishing the maps of Scotland which first appeared in volume five of the atlas, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum sive Atlas Novus (1654).
