Abstract
A review has been made of investigations and decisions on the subject of the organization of cancer care that were published between 1965 and 1974 by WHO or the governmental authorities or parliaments in different countries. There would seem to be close agreement as regards the most appropriate principles for the organization of cancer control in the different countries. The view is widely held that development of treatment methods is dictating a need for the establishment of specialized cancer treatment centers. There are close similarities in the decisions taken in the different countries concerning the functions and the dimensioning of cancer centers. Although there is a tendency to build up the new organization on the basis of existing resources, there would seem on the whole not to exist any essential differences in the principle guidelines for the development of the organization of cancer care in the different countries.
