Abstract

This article discusses the Water Supply Act of 1958 that made possible the inclusion of storage in multipurpose reservoirs, planned or constructed by the Corps of Engineers or the Bureau of Reclamation, for anticipated municipal and industrial water demands. Pitfalls in the planning of multipurpose reservoirs are discussed, along with the importance of the consideration of the scope of the project.
