Abstract

Technology holds the promise of making education more engaging, more interesting, and more relevant. Everyone is enthusiastic about new technology…except the lawyers. The challenge for adopting and using new technology is to understand the potential risks new technology brings, and to manage those risks. The aim of this presentation is to provide an overview of some legal (and practical) issues that arise in the use of technology, particularly in health education. While the presentation is not intended to provide legal advice – attendees will be rewarded with some witty anecdotes and some tools they can apply in their home jurisdictions to assess and manage risk when introducing new technology into their educational armamentarium.
