Abstract

The modifications of meson properties at finite temperature and density, in particular for the rho meson and the electromagnetic pion form factor are discussed in an SU(2) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with vector mesons. The treatment of mesons as collective quark-antiquark excitations in the ladder approximation scheme is found to lead to a rho meson mass increasing with temperature and density and to qualitatively incorrect features of the form factor.
