Abstract

To give survivors and their caregiver partners the elements of a concrete roadmap to successful stroke recovery maximization, particularly after reimbursed therapy is terminated. A secondary objective is to elevate the importance of the caregiver partner so that they are taken more seriously in the stroke recovery process. Having visited several overseas countries it became clear that there is a need for a realistic, compassionate and tested approach to extending the stroke recovery window in America. That extension has the potential, depending on the survivor and caregiver partner, to achieve a fuller stroke recovery maximization. Few survivors and their key caregiver partners have information about non-mainstream opportunistic strategies and therapies which are available, because in many cases they are either not well known or are geocentric. In addition, some of these approaches to extend physical and/or mental functionality are out of the traditional mainstream.
