Abstract

Generally, piezoelectric ceramics based lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) system are well known for use in high power devices. The chemical phase diagram of PbZTO/sub 3/(PZ)-PbTiO/sub 3/(PT)-Pb(Mn/sub 1/3/Sb/sub 2/3/)O/sub 3/(PMS) ceramics which have been shown to be adaptable for a high power usage is introduced. The stability of piezoelectric properties in PZ-PT-PMS solid solution system such as piezoelectric constants, electromechanical coupling coefficient and mechanical quality factor are discussed in terms of CeO/sub 2/ additive. 0.47PbZrO/sub 3/ (PZ) 0.43PbTiO/sub 3/ (PT) 0.1Pb(Mn/sub 1/3/Sb/sub 2/3/)O/sub 3/ (PMS)-0.5 wt% CeO/sub 2/ ceramics at sintering temperature of 1200/spl deg/C adaptable for a high power device material are used. The resonant and anti-resonant frequencies, mechanical quality factor, and force factor are also measured as a function of vibration velocity.
