Abstract
Leucokinin, a component of the leucophilic γ-globulin, stimulates the phagocytic activity of the neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leucocyte. The Fab portion of this molecule is responsible for this effect. The Fc fragment is inactive. Similarly, the Fab and the Fc fragments of the remaining nonleucophilic fractions of γ-globulin are also inactive. Papain digests of phosphocellulose fractions I and IV of γ-globulin show markedly different chromatographic patterns on DEAE Sephadex A-50. This applies to both man and dog.
