Abstract

The predictive capabilities of a simplified semi-empirical Green's function approach and a recent ab initio variant for the interpretation of the outer valence ionization energies of bis(π-allyl)nickel are compared. The ab initio investigation fails to reproduce the full photoelectron spectrum and only the older simplified many-body ansatz is consistent with all experimental facts.
