Abstract

This paper deals with the phonological opposition between /r/~/rr/ in the speech of the city of Peja. paper is titled, The Phonological Opposition between /r/~/rr/ in the Speech of the City of Peja, leaving aside the speech of the villages around this town, as in their speech comes out a different state of this opposition. At the beginning of the paper, various notes have been made concerning the concept of phonological opposition, emphasizing the period of structuralism hereof. Then the phonetic features of the phonemes /r/ dhe /rr/ are given, because we have classified these phonemes based on these features. After this, we have studied the state of the distinctive opposition in the speech of this city which is the object of this study. We have considered only the cases when the usage of /rr/ instead of /r/ has caused a change of the semantic meaning, and vice versa. data collection for this research has been done through casual conversations we have had with the speakers of this city, but in some cases even by trying to ask them orientation questions. illustration of the words is made in the context of the sentence. We have relied on previous studies of this field to do this study.
