Abstract

Wang Fu-chih (1619-1692), whose style name [tzu] was Erhnung, was a native of Hengyang; in the history of our country, he was a great materialist and patriot. In his later years he lived in Shih-ch'uan-shan in western Hunan, and scholars called him Ch'uan-shan hsien sheng [a title of respect, somewhat equivalent to Mister, Squire, or teacher]. This year 19621 marks the 270th anniversary of his death.
