Abstract
John Adriani produced the first edition of The Pharmacology of Anesthetic Drugs in 1940. This is now the fifth edition and the 15th printing. These statistics attest to the popularity of this text, but may also point to the penchant of the American medical student and physician for books in outline forms. The fourth edition was printed in 1960, and the rapid advances in this past decade have necessitated considerable changes in the text. It has been brought up to date completely with the maintenance of the old style of presentation. For the quick review of the pharmacology of a specific drug, there is no source quite like it. There are four chapters on general pharmacology of anesthetic drugs, nine chapters on the various classes of anesthetic drugs with specific examples within each, and a final chapter on clinical usage.
