Abstract
The geology of the area studied is described by Cox (1925), and an account of the general plant ecology has been given by Price Evans in two recent papers in this Journal (1932, 1945). The later paper also gives a useful and simplified extract from Cox's geological map. In this paper, co-ordinates of latitude and longitude have, in most instances, been used to indicate collecting localities and have been calculated from the second edition of the Six Inch Ordnance Survey Maps (1901). The cliffs studied belong to the five following geological series, beginning with the stratigraphically lowest:
