Abstract

The paper is set in the context of current debate on the PGCE for primary/ middle school students. It critically analyses the structure of many courses which rely on covering a number of primary school subjects and argues for the integration of these into units which will reflect the development of primary school education as a response to HM Primary Report. One way in which such integration could be achieved is outlined and the implications of this for school experience and assessment discussed.
