Abstract

Two additional cases of the periosteal counterpart of benign osteoblastoma, occurring over the greater trochanter of the femur and on the lower anterior tibia, respectively, are presented. The roentgenologic appearance suggests a benign process, and the histologic features, which are indistinguishable from those of benign osteoblastoma of intramedullary origin, allow differentiation from myositis ossificans restricted to or primarily involving periosteum and parosteal osteosarcoma, in addition to other less common entities which display juxtacortical calcification or ossification.
