Abstract

Summary Overall, Anglin's Instructional Technology: Past, Present, and Future was viewed quite favorably by both students and faculty involved in this course at the Great Valley campus of The Pennsylvania State University. From a student's point of view, the book provided a broad discussion of the instructional technology field in a format that clearly matched the learning styles of part-time, adult graduate students. The text was recommended for continued use in this course by a majority of the students. From a faculty perspective, the book continually provided an excellent starting point for class discussion in nearly every important area of instructional technology. While the book did have several characteristics that did not appeal to these students (primarily in its discussions of research and theoretical issues), it does appear to be a good choice for a textbook in a foundations course or for general reference for professionals already working in the field. It is hoped that the points described in the above review will assist students and faculty in their search for appropriate texts for graduate study and research in this field.
