Abstract
Pneumatic guns can fire spherical projectiles of multiple materials, and some pneumatic guns can be modified and replaced with barrels. In order to clarify the impact of the pneumatic launching structure and the physical characteristics of the projectile on the launching ability of the pneumatic guns, an internal ballistic analysis model was built to describing the process of launching projectile of the gun, which accounted the process of charging and discharging, and the feasibility of the model was verified by a trial calculation with a certain pneumatic gun structure parameter Based on the model, the influence of gun/projectile characteristics on the firing ability of pneumatic guns was analyzed. The research shows that the firing ability of pneumatic guns is related to the pneumatic firing structure. Under the same conditions, the higher density of the projectile, the higher specific kinetic energy could be acquired, and the ratio of the specific kinetic energy of the higher density projectile to low density projectile is less than the density ratio; under the condition that the barrel can be modified and replaced, the barrel caliber is changed, the smaller caliber, the higher specific kinetic energy that the projectile can obtain, and the change of barrel caliber length does not affect the ratio of specific kinetic energy obtained by projectiles of different densities.
