Abstract

The paper describes a series of wind tunnel model experiments on the performance of extraction booths which are subject to continuous draughts within buildings. The effects of both draught magnitude and direction relative to the booth opening were studied using tracer gas concentration measurements and flow visualisation. Both parameters were found to have a considerable effect on booth performance, and in some operating situations the containment efficiency may be quite low.
