Abstract

SYNOPSIS The performance characteristics of a magnetic Brayton refrigeration cycle are investigated, based on the statistical properties of a paramagnetic salt with quantum number 1/2. The coefficients of performance and refrigeration heat of the cycle are calculated analytically and compared for two different cases, without regeneration and with regeneration. Some special cases are discussed in detail. The results obtained here reveal theoretically the advantages of a regenerative magnetic Brayton refrigeration cycle.
