Abstract

/10.10 14 A ence: tate U venu .mika Due to its relative simplicity and effectiveness, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) has recently become a popular surgical option [1]. In fact, LSG is now the second most common bariatric operation performed in the United States, after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) [2]. Staple-line leaks are the most dreaded complication of LSG, with a reported incidence of 2–3% [3]. A majority (90%) of the leaks are seen in the proximal portion of the sleeve, close to the angle of His, and 80% of the patients are diagnosed after being discharged [3]. Here, we present a rare case of a splenic infarct and foreign body mimicking a late staple-line leak after LSG.
