Summary
The pectoralis major flap was initially described by Ariyan in the 1970s. It has high acceptance due to its versatility for head and neck cancer reconstruction. The treatment of head and neck cancer often requires extensive resections and flaps for its reconstruction. Since it provides good cosmetic results, immediate reconstruction is preferable. The pectoralis major musculocutaneus flap (PMMF) is versatile and widely used in the head and neck region since the studies of Ariyan [2,3].
