Abstract

The high-frequency asymptotics of the scattering pattern of a plane sound wave is derived by analyzing the diffraction field near a convex shell. Formula for scattering pattern is obtained in the form of an integral over the shell surface which depends on pressure and its normal derivative. Asymptotics of the integral for large angles between the direction of the incident field and the line of observation is determined using the method of stationary phase. Asymptotics is investigated in the case of small angles.
