>> Background Scandinavian healthcare, like many other healthcare systems, is constantly undergoing change and restructuring in order to be able to meet the demands for improved effectiveness and quality. This has led to the increased division of roles, tasks, and responsibilities. Three development trends have strongly contributed to this state of affairs: decentralization, specialization, and professionalization.
