Abstract

The embryology of insects has attracted the attention of many biologists. In spite of the need for such research with the culicids, relatively few publications deal with mosquito embryology. With the exception of Gander's (1951) these papers have presented rather indefinite and sometimes questionable information. Gander, however, working with Aedes aegypti (Linn.), did not record development subsequent to the first segmentation of the embryo. He stated only that it was comparable to that of the mourning gnat, Sciara.
