Abstract

Libraries are coping with technology and tight budgets, present and future pressures, in a variety of ways. Through the use of automation, libraries are able to reorganize technical services departments more efficiently and reassign professional cataloguers to other positions in the library. Benefits of such reorganization are more productive use of resources, wider professional experience for cataloguers, and better service for patrons.
