Abstract

AbstractMembers of the Bronte Society have heard with regret of the demolition of Blake Hall, Mirfield, always associated with the career of Anne Bronte. This three-storied, many-windowed mansion, one of the largest and most imposing in the West Riding, was the residence of the Ingham family until quite lately, when it was bought from them by Mr. Maurice Avison, but for the last two years it has been unoccupied. Now it is being pulled down, together with its beautiful old oak panelling, and unique yew staircase, and the site is to be used for building purposes.
