Abstract
A lens type beta-ray spectrometer has been used to measure the K internal conversion coefficient of the first-excited to ground state transition in O 19. The levels of O 19 were excited by the reaction O 18(d, p)O 19. The value of the K internal conversion coefficient was measured to be 6.27(1±0.18)×10 −4. This value is indicative of an M1 transition which establishes the parity of the first-excited level of 0 19 as positive. The energy of the first-excited level was determined from internal conversion electron and photoelectron spectra to be 95±2 keV.
