Abstract

An oxytocin challenge test (OCT) is a tool used to evaluate placental insufficiency, but it can also be time- and labor-intensive. Studies suggest that OCT may allow for early intervention before fetal acidemia in cases of fetal growth restriction (FGR), but its use for other indications is not well-defined. The objective of the study was to determine whether the use of an OCT prior to induction for oligohydramnios reduces the risk of cesarean delivery for nonreassuring fetal heart tracing.
