Abstract

Several synthesis methods of Nd 2CuO 4 have been investigated, based either on the precipitation of hydroxides, oxalates or the formation of carboxylic resin. X-ray patterns show a quasi identity of crystal structure only after flourination; magnetic susceptibility in the superconducting state as well as T c onset depend significantly on the preparation method. TGA experiments and X-ray measurements show that fluorine substitutes oxygen during neutral gas annealing of Nd 2CuO 4 fluorinated precursor. The amount of diamagnetism of a superconducting material is shown to be related to the Nd 2CuO 4 grain size and also to the sintering ability of the powders.
