Abstract
ABSTRACTThe gold akinakes scabbard cover from the Oxus Treasure is, it is here argued, probably Median work of around 600 B.C. Its non-Achaemenid character is demonstrated by new observations about the lion and horse types upon it and the western origins of some subsidiary decoration.
