Abstract

There are 85 mini hydroelectric power plants in Russia with an installed capacity of up to 5 MW, their total installed capacity is 105,57 MW, and the annual electricity generation is about 1 billion kWh. For large hydroelectric power plants, the installed capacity utilization factor is ~ 45%. However, the install capacity utilization factor of individual mini hydro power plant can be up to 90%, which is an indicator of the high efficiency of their technological operation. On the one hand, a high install capacity utilization factor can be associated with the operating mode of the hydroelectric power plants, and on the other hand, with the design of the turbines and their manufacturers. To achieve the reasons for the high install capacity utilization factor of mini hydro power plants, the park of hydraulic turbines, quantity and types of hydraulic turbines used, their nominal unit power and their manufacturers was investigated.
