Abstract

The question (or ‘issue’ for some other nations) of Taiwan is a significant matter that has been attracting attention from multiple political entities. To further study and analyze the case might help to address Taiwan question in a peaceful manner. And the outbreak of the Korean War along with the change in US-Taiwan relations in that period is an important part in studying Taiwan question. The specific time period has made the interests and relations between the US and Taiwan appeared rather obvious, therefore it may contribute to the later study as well as the final resolve of Taiwan question by studying the case in this unique period. This article is to study the US-Taiwan relations in the period of the Korean War and will contain three stages of relevant history: before the outbreak, after the outbreak and after the end of the war. The history and factors will be analyzed and the article would summarize briefly from an neorealism perspective that US-Taiwan relations is dominated by the US’s interests.
