Abstract
Many individuals at this year's annual conference had questions for me about my role and functions as the part-time out-(of)-house Editor of Physical Therapy. Their puzzlement is understandable, for my appointment to the editorship represents a departure from the way in which the Editor's job has always been done. Let me explain where and how I've been performing the job for the past five months. Because I'm not independently wealthy, and because the Editor's job is part-time, I need to have another position. From the time of my appointment in April until July, I was Director of the Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis, a position I have held for the past nine years. Currently, I am associate director for research in the Division of Physical Therapy, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
