Abstract

SUMMARY Today, just as the surgeon's relationship with the cleft lip and palate child is ongoing from birth through adulthood, so, too, is the orthodontist's involvement. Together, their relationship is longstanding and complementary. Overall understanding, communication, and appreciation of each other's problems and treatment goals set a higher standard of achievement for the most important of people, the patient.
