Abstract

There is a component of the current normal to the boundary near the tangential discontinuity (the magnetopause) if the plasma is frozen in the magnetic field. On the assumption that the plasma density obeys the model of Gold's distributionn∼r−4, one finds that if one closes the component of the current in the ionospeere, the global system of field-aligned currents is created which is consistent with the Triad data on the value, direction, and the distribution with the local time.
