Abstract

Three new forms ofDelphinium are shown to have arisen from hybridisation of diploid and tetraploid species: — (1) followed by somatic doubling of the chromosome number, giving fertile hexaploids („Belladonna”,Lamartinii) (2) preceded by non-reduction of the chromosomes in the egg cell of a diploid species, giving a fertile tetraploid („Ruysii”).
