Abstract

We fabricated the YBCO thin film on the MgO single crystalline substrate using VLS growth mode without YBCO seed layer. It was confirmed that the c-axis oriented YBCO film grew on top of the MgO substrate from TEM image. In addition, the in-plane alignment of the film was attained on MgO substrates, which had been difficult to obtain by the conventional vapor growth mode. The VLS growth enables us to get the c-axis oriented YBCO films with the in-plane alignment. However, it was confirmed that the a/ b-axis oriented grains grow when the film thickness is above 1000Å.
