Abstract

With every year the network of secondary schools in our country grows. Last year 58% of the graduates of the eight-year school were accepted into the 9th grade; in the current year this percentage will rise to 72%. The Soviet Union is approaching a solution of the problem of universal secondary education: the draft Directive of the 23rd Congress of the CPSU on the five-year plan for the development of the economy of the USSR for 1966-1970 envisages that the introduction of universal secondary education for young people will be basically completed during the five-year period.
