Abstract

No, not the Oregon Trail. Not the historic stagecoach route west from Missouri to the Willamette Valley but the Oregon trial, a landmark study of the effect of medical insurance on health. Published in May 2013, the New England Journal of Medicine report describes a trial in Oregon comparing various metrics of care in a sample of Medicaid patients compared with a control group without health insurance coverage [ 1 Baicker K.
