Abstract

The proper implementation of a transport process is influenced among others, by vehicles, which carry construction materials stored in warehouses and on construction sites. During performing transport undertakings related to the logistic support of various types of construction investments one often has to deal with tasks linked to the need of multi-criterial decision-making. The paper puts forward a proposal for a simple optimisation method, while making an assessment of its pros and cons at the same time. An important advantage of the proposed method is that it has a simple and transparent calculation algorithm. It is therefore recommendable to apply in engineering practice. In the optimisation process, coefficients of importance of each criterion allow account to be taken of individual preferences of a decision maker. Thus, they are one of the key elements of this process. In this paper the DEMATEL method was applied to calculate these coefficients. Currently in Poland there are several well-known and recognised companies specialising in the sale of trucks, yet in this work only Volvo vehicles were taken into consideration in analyses.
