Abstract

Endovascular repair of uncomplicated type B aortic dissection (TBAD) continues to become more prevalent. In the accompanying paper, Xiang et al1 assess risk factors for distal stent-graft-induced new entry (dSINE) after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). As all aortic surgeons are aware, aortic dissection is a chronic disease condition, much like diabetes or heart failure; it requires technically thoughtful interventions followed by lifelong surveillance and maintenance therapy. This study is an important contribution in our understanding of how the techniques employed at initial TEVAR may affect long-term aortic remodeling and the need for additional procedures.
