Abstract
The Online Journal of Current Clinical Trials (OJCCT), the first peer-reviewed electronic scientific journal, was launched on July 1, 1992. A joint venture between OCLC and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), this scholarly journal includes clinical trial reports, reviews and meta-analyses, book reviews, and letters to the editor. It is indexed by BIOSIS and will probably be indexed by MEDLINE in the near future. OJCCT exists in two versions, via Guidon, a Windows interface, and via the Electronic Publishing Service (EPS). Both versions are available through OCLC and CompuServe dial-access, while EPS is also available through the Internet or an OCLC dedicated line. OJCCT is an innovative approach to scientific publishing which poses several challenges and advantages: slowness of printing and the paucity of articles, on the one hand, and the rapidity of publication, the linking of articles, and related articles or letters, on the other.
