Abstract

On the evening of March 29 the editors of MR received the Omegna Prize for 1966 at a ceremony held in the Casa della Cultura in Milan, Italy. This was preceded by a visit to Omegna during the day, a reception at the Omegna town hall, and a luncheon at the Hotel San Rocco in the nearby resort town of Orta on the beautiful Lake of Orta which nestles in the foothills of the Alps a few miles west of Lake Maggiore. We print below the opening statement at the evening ceremony by Signor Baldini, the Mayor of Omegna, the responding remarks of the prize recipients, and part of the statement by the judges in announcing the award. —The EditorsThis article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website.
