Abstract
Written by Professor Nover and translated from the German by Frederick C. Blodi, MD, this concise and clearly written text would be a valuable aid to the nonophthalmic physician. In a lucid fashion, Dr. Nover provides most useful information both on methods of examination of the ocular fundus and also on diagnosis of fundus pathology in local and systemic disease. The illustrations of the ocular fundus are excellent both in choice and quality. One would take issue with the statement on page 11 that synchysis scintillans is nearly always unilateral. According to Duke-Elder1it is more usually bilateral. Asteroid hyalitis (or asteroid hyalosis) is much more frequently unilateral.1 The ten misspelled words do not detract from the text at all. The only confusion on the part of a reader seeking to add to his knowledge of the ocular fundus might occur in Fig 29 on page 40 which
