Abstract
AbstractThe occurrence of pumpellyite in Late Cretaceous volcanic rocks of the Coloured Series, NE of Neyriz, is reported for the first time. The form of the pumpellyite and its chemistry are described. The mineral assemblages of the prehnite-pumpellyite facies of metamorphism are present, indicating that burial metamorphism has occurred, a new factor to be considered in the tectonic evolution of the Zagros suture zone.
